Richard Alvin Hunting, 82

Richard Alvin Hunting, 82, of Libby, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at his home in Libby. 

Rick was born May 10, 1931, in Pomeroy, Wash., to Alvin and Charlotte (Kingman) Hunting. Rick grew up and attended school in Pomeroy, and graduated from Walla Walla High School with the class of 1950. 

Rick married Wanda Hansen Nov. 18, 1956, in Spokane. 

Rick served with the United States Air Force and was stationed with the occupation forces in Germany after World War II. 

After 12 years in Great Falls and three years in Kalispell, Rick moved with his family to Libby in 1977. Rick and Wanda took over Treasure State Realty and were responsible for developing Big Horn Terrace. In later years, Rick worked for W.R. Grace and also served as a custodian for the Libby Elementary School system before retiring.

 Rick was very passionate about his faith. He had a servant's heart and spent many hours volunteering at the Libby Christian Church, where he served as an elder and as a hospital chaplain. 

Rick enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, fishing and car shows. 

His wife, Wanda, preceded him in death.  

Survivors include his two daughters, Shawn Kienas and John of Kalispell, and Val Hunting and Harvey Jackson of Melbourne, Australia; brother, John Hunting, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two sisters, Marion Gillock of Florence, Ore., and Rene McIntyre of Belfair, Wash.; grandson, Eddie Beckman, and Ann, of Kalispell; granddaughter, Danielle Reynolds; and two great-grandchildren, Lola Beckman and Drake Glencross.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Libby Christian Church in Libby. 

Local arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
