Plans for electronic devices on the agenda
The Kalispell City Council will once again discuss board appointments at a work session tonight, and it will discuss the potential benefits of city officials making more efficient use of personal electronic devices.
City Manager Doug Russell recommends that electronic devices can be purchased and used by City Council members and city staffers to move toward paperless communications, information packets and agendas.
He has calculated that the devices would cost $13,600 over a three-year period, but those costs would be more than recovered in savings on labor and printing.
The council will also discuss appointments to the county Solid Waste Board, the City-County Health Board and other boards that have city representation.
A city memorandum on the topic does not mention any names for appointments, but it is possible potential applicants could be discussed.
The council cannot take action on any recommendations for appointments made by Mayor Mark Johnson until there is a regularly scheduled council meeting rather than a work session.
The work session gets underway at 7 p.m. in City Hall on First Avenue East in Kalispell.
