Ad for a dog leads to grim discovery

A concerned Cynthia Drive resident contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after answering an ad about and picking up a dog that apparently had been starved and neglected. The dog was found by an animal control officer to be very thin and lethargic with digestive issues. The original owners of the dog and another dog they were trying to get rid of were told the dogs had to go by a representative from Child and Parent Services.

A Montana 35 man called 911 saying his girlfriend was yelling at him over drugs, but said all he had consumed were beer and Pringles and that he was not sure what he was on. He said the argument was over her wanting to go get high although she said she was in bed. He went on to say a suspicious call to her cellphone made him think she was going to do methamphetamine.

A Coram woman reported a man who has a restraining order against her was putting religious pamphlets in her car and that she knew they were from him because she recognized his handwriting.

An Elk Trail woman who previously found several threatening notes posted on her garage and on her mother’s vehicle said she had now found more damage to her vehicle.

A trio of troublesome boys about 8 or 9 years old were riding dirt bikes up and down Whalebone Drive in both lanes of traffic and into traffic, almost getting hit a couple of times.

Several jugs of change — each containing about $350 — as well as two handguns were stolen from a Dorothy Street home near Columbia Falls.

A Somerset Drive woman complained about a phone call she received from a person asking for a donation that she didn’t believe was legitimate.

A deputy sent a man on his way after he refused to leave the front step of a U.S. 93 South bar in Lakeside.

A Hungry Deer Lane resident in Bigfork complained that a neighbor was firing off his gun, but the man was found to be shooting safely.

An Ekalaka Lane man reported his 3-year-old daughter grabbed his phone and accidentally dialed 911.

A resident of School Addition Road in Somers reported a white Chihuahua was loose “again.”


A Kalispell Police Department officer responded to a U.S. 93 South property after receiving a report of an older, bearded man causing trouble. The man reportedly tried to stuff money down a female employee’s shirt, then refused to leave for more than half an hour.

Someone managed to get inside a Third Avenue East building through a basement access before ripping modems off the wall in the basement.

A man and his 16-year-old son made a trip to the emergency room after the son was “choked out” and possibly given drugs in an alley near a Kalispell school.

A man was sent along to a hotel after he was reported wandering the halls of a First Avenue West property, being disorderly and threatening people.

A U.S. 93 South man awoke to someone shining a flashlight into his room before he found broken eggs all over his window.

A man called a U.S. 93 North property asking to talk to a woman and making several sexually explicit comments. Both parties involved were counseled on state laws regarding privacy in communication.

A suspicious person with a flashlight was reported in the front yard of a Northern Lights Boulevard home.

Someone threw a beer bottle through the window of a car on Second Avenue East.

A smoke detector at a Denver Avenue residence was triggered by burning food.


A miffed motorist called the Whitefish Police Department to report a disaster of a driver who nearly ran the motorist off the road on JP Road. A responding officer reported that the supposedly dangerous driver had his own side of the story.

An officer stopped to talk to a pair of youths on Baker Avenue who were out walking at 1:10 a.m. Their parents were notified and found to be aware that it was finals week. The youths were walking to one of their homes.

A Somers Avenue woman called police after finding footprints leading up to and around her home.


A Martha Road woman complained to the Columbia Falls Police Department about an ongoing issue of the odor of marijuana around her house. An officer walked around the area but was unable to smell any marijuana.

An astute Rapids Avenue resident called police after receiving a phone call from a person claiming to be a representative of her bank calling about a problem with her ATM card. The call was believed to be from a scammer.

Cash and a camera were stolen from a vehicle on Franlou Park Drive.
