Basketball roundup: Vikings blow out Plains
BIGFORK — Undefeated and top-ranked Bigfork had no trouble taking care of visiting Plains in a District 7B boys basketball game on Thursday evening.
Bigfork (11-0 overall, 5-0 league) started with back-to-back 18-point quarters to take a commanding 36-11 lead at the half.
Ryder Trent led a balanced Vikings attack with 13 points. Wyatt Fisher tossed in 12 and Christian Evans finished with 10.
Evans also had a team-best eight rebounds.
Aaron Baker totaled 10 points to pace Plains.
Bigfork is back in 7B action tonight at Eureka.

PLAINS — A slow first half took care of any hopes Bigfork had of collecting a key District 7B road win over Plains.
The No. 10-ranked Valkyries (8-3, 3-2) were held to six points in the opening half to trail 23-6. Plains (9-2, 5-0) outscored Bigfork 18-7 in the final quarter to put the game out of reach.
Ninth-ranked Plains was 12 of 17 free throw shooting in the fourth quarter.
Bigfork had 34 turnovers in the contest.
Marissa Hiza led Bigfork in scoring with 11 points.
Bigfork hosts Eureka tonight in 7B play.

The Columbia Falls junior varsity held Stillwater Christian (8-5) to just eight points in the second quarter, building a nine-point lead that was enough to secure a win on the road in a nonconference game.
Allyson Gimbel scored 11 points and Kiara Burlage had 10 for the Wildkats.
Gimbel scored nine points in the first half.
“The girls played really hard against a solid opponent,” Stillwater coach Denise Topp said.
“We had balanced contributions from the team.”
Sarah Paolini led all scorers, and the Cougars, with 15 points.
Janelle Falk had 11 and Serena Koch had 10.
Paolini also led in rebounds with 14.
McKenzie Hemp had a strong all-around game with five assists, four steals, six rebounds and two points.
Both teams were 7 of 10 shooting from the free throw line.
Stillwater hosts the Glacier sophomores tonight at 7.
