Neighborhood is going to the dogs

A fed-up White Tail Ridge resident in Kila complained to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that a neighbor’s pit bulls were running at large and chasing the resident’s horses, and were aggressive toward the resident, who tried to run them off. The resident noted in particular that the neighbors have signs saying “dangerous pit bulls” but still let the animals run loose. The dogs’ owners were cited.

A cat-loving Kila man on U.S. 2 West called for an animal control officer after a feline had been stuck 60 feet up a tree for more than two days. He was told to place some food and water at the bottom of the tree and that the cat would come down once it got hungry and thirsty enough. The man was also told by the officer that “we do not climb trees to get cats.”

A beer company delivery truck driver was reported after driving in the oncoming lane of U.S. 2 West, driving fast and almost forcing another motorist off the road. A Montana Highway Patrol trooper later located the vehicle and “put the driver out of service.”

A man in a van on Spotted Bear Road was reported spinning his tires and throwing gravel all over the road while another man, on foot, was yelling “Kill me, kill me!” to the driver. When a deputy responded, one of the men ran into the woods.

A very drunk man on Montana 35 called to complain that women in the area kept selling drugs to his girlfriend. He had no descriptions of the women or information about where they are now, just said they were all around the area.

A Bernard Road woman’s daughter, whom she had kicked out for using drugs, allegedly came back and stole a television, DVD, iPod and laptop. The television and DVD were later recovered.

Officers arrested a man after a Kalispell woman who is the victim in an assault case in which the man is charged reported he was harassing her in person and by phone.

The principal of a Lakeside school wanted something documented on a legal basis after a fourth-grade boy with anger problems was said to be hurting people.

A concerned citizen in Bigfork shared worries regarding a convicted sex offender who lives immediately in front of a school bus stop.

The Kalispell Police Department received a pair of complaints about a drunk man in a hoodie first trying to get into an Airport Road apartment while moaning, then knocking on the door of a Merganser Drive residence. An officer located the man, who said he was out of options and looking for a couch to sleep on.

A man reported he pays every month to live at a low-income apartment building downtown, and that the landlord had gone into his room, removed his belongings and placed someone else into his room twice, moving him to a different room each time. He said he had now been moved into a lower-value room but his rent was not reduced.

A frustrated father reported a woman leaned out of her vehicle and screamed at the top of her lungs for him to “get a move on it” before threatening to ram his vehicle with his children in it while he was picking up his son on Second Street West.

A flustered Fifth Avenue West man complained about a low-flying helicopter creating too much noise for the second night in a row. He also said he had complained to the FAA and they wouldn’t do anything about it.

A pair of business partners chose to go through small claims court after one reported the other smashed some of their merchandise instead of returning it.

A worried woman reported she was receiving threatening calls from a man who said he was going to come to her home and hurt her.

A man on probation was reported for putting a threatening letter on another man’s truck.

A reckless driver on Sunny View Lane was stopped and counseled.

A vehicle on Airport Road was ransacked for the second time.

A laptop was stolen from a vehicle on Fourth Avenue East.

A wheelchair was stolen on Third Avenue West.

A Whitefish Police Department officer responded to East First Street after a woman was reported for refusing to move her vehicles to allow electric company representatives to revamp a home that had been donated to the business. After the officer spoke to the woman, the problem was resolved.

A suspicious man in a station wagon reported by a Fairway Drive resident as not belonging in the neighborhood was found to be a caretaker for several houses in the area.

A man trying to catch a few winks in his car on Central Avenue accidentally bumped his hazard lights, drawing an officer to investigate.
