Car tires, not road, in bad shape
Flathead Crimestoppers and the Kalispell Police Department are looking for the public’s help in recovering a wheelchair stolen from a mobility-impaired Elms Apartments resident. The black, extra heavy-duty framed wheelchair was taken from the parking lot of the building between 2:15 and 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The victim is in serious need of the wheelchair, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the police department at 758-7780 or Crimestoppers at 752-8477.
ALERT was requested to respond to Big Mountain at the request of the ski patrol to pick up a patient with a possible broken femur at the bottom of Chair 8 at Hell Roaring Basin but was unable to fly. Plans were made to transport the patient by other means.
A motorist in Somers contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report Boon Road was not passable, and that several passenger vehicles and a delivery truck had become stuck. A deputy who responded after another motorist said the road was slick and cars were unable to get up the hill said the road was fine and that the vehicle in question had bad tires.
The same deputy responded to Lakeview Drive in Lakeside after hearing it was impassable and again reported the road was no different than any others.
A Gordon Avenue woman reported a man called her boyfriend and threatened to hurt anyone in her family then called her and said the same thing. When contacted by a deputy, the man was told not to contact the family or he would be charged with a crime. He was argumentative and denied making any threats.
A man returning from skiing reported his pickup truck was gone. It was eventually found in another parking lot, and the man said that despite misplacing his vehicle, he “wasn’t even drinking.”
A motorist involved in an accident reported his all-terrain vehicle was knocked off his trailer, and that after he took his vehicle home and returned for the all-terrain vehicle, it was gone.
A Lakeside woman was bitten by a Doberman Pinscher on Stoner Creek Road in Lakeside, causing her to bleed. She declined medical attention.
A U.S. 93 South woman reported her soon-to-be ex-husband — against whom she obtained a restraining order — took a check out of her mail.
A Somers resident reported a man who had recently been arrested due to a different incident was distributing inappropriate pictures of the resident to random people.
A Vonderheide Lane man reported receiving threatening phone calls from his soon-to-be ex.
A one-ton Dodge truck was stolen on Columbia Falls Stage Road.
A pair of pistols were stolen from a vehicle on Stone Street.
A deputy helped free a stuck vehicle on U.S. 2 East.
The Kalispell Police Department received several complaints regarding upstairs neighbors on Wednesday.
A Hawthorn Avenue woman reported her upstairs neighbors were either wrestling or jumping around, making loud noises and keeping her children awake. A responding officer reported it was quiet, but made contact with the residents, who agreed to keep it down.
An Airport Road resident shared his belief that his upstairs neighbor had tried to break into his apartment the prior night.
A Fourth Avenue East resident reported his upstairs neighbor was yelling profanities.
A woman whose vehicle became stuck on a curb at an alley off of Seventh Street West reported the curb shouldn’t be there and that it was possibly moved into the way by a snow plow or a piece of machinery. Cones were later placed around the hazard.
A resident whose driveway attaches to the alley between Eighth Avenue West and Ninth Avenue West was reported for clearing his driveway with a snow blower, and as a result blocking other driveways in the alley.
A Grandview Drive woman complained about an ongoing problem with the road in front of her house being dangerously snowy and wanting to know when the plows would be out.
A semi-trailer temporarily blocked the southbound lane of Third Avenue East when it became high-centered on a snow bank in the middle of the road.
A drunk man was arrested and jailed after he was reported yelling at the front desk of a U.S. 93 South hotel after hitting a woman in the eye.
A fender bender on Sunny View Lane resulted in a bumper — complete with license plate — being left behind.
A motorist left a Third Avenue East North gas station without paying for $71 in premium gasoline.
The driver’s license of a woman who reported being the victim of a hit-and-run accident was seized.
A bag of marijuana was found in the lobby of a First Avenue West business.
An officer helped free a stuck vehicle on Fifth Avenue West.

The Whitefish Police Department dealt with several stuck vehicles and other weather-related issues on Wednesday.
Stuck vehicles were freed on Denver Street and West Sixth Street, a handicapped man had to call AAA for his vehicle, stuck in a snow bank on Washington Avenue, and another man was given permission to leave his vehicle in a no-parking zone at the city beach when it became stuck there.
A large truck stopped in the middle of the road on Idaho Avenue while moving a house temporarily blocked traffic, with the driver telling motorists to turn around despite there being nowhere to do so and the motorists having to dangerously back down the hill. The truck was eventually moved off the roadway to allow traffic to pass.
A group of men were reported stealing batteries at a U.S. 93 South property.
The Columbia Falls Police Department dealt with several stuck vehicles and other weather-related issues on Wednesday.
Stuck vehicles were freed on Bills Lane and Eighth Avenue West, and a motorist who got a truck high-centered on Fourth Avenue West was able to move it out of the roadway with the help of some friends.
An officer also stopped to check on a person in a vehicle at Depot Park and discovered the person was fine, just waiting for the roads to get better before continuing to drive.
