Legion Baseball: Barber's no-hitter leads Lakers A
SPOKANE — The Kalispell Lakers A shrugged off an 0-2 Friday at the Spokane Wood Bat Classic with an emphatic 14-0 victory over the East Valley Knights in their final game of the tournament.
Quinn Barber threw a no-hitter for the Lakers, who used an 11-run second inning to support their ace’s gem.
Barber struckout seven Knights without surrendering a hit. The Lakers lone error thrawted Barber’s attempt at a perfect outing, but his teammates would make up for it by recording 14 hits in the rout.
Lukas DeCock led the charge offensively. He had the game’s only doubles, hitting two extra-base hits while going 3 for 3 from the plate. He and teammate Tyson Sperber each drove in a game-high three runs in the contest. Sperber was 3 for 4.
Patrick O’Connell also had a multi-hit day for the Lakers, finishing 2 for 3.
Leif Ericksen, Logan DeCock, Robert McCarvel Brooks Krause and Tucker Cronk added RBIs for Kalispell.
The Lakers are back in action on Monday, facing the Mission Valley Mariners at Griffin Field at 7 p.m.

POLSON — Alex Killian threw six scoreless innings before Ryan Pablo closed out the seventh as the Mission Valley Mariners A shut out the Cranbrook Bandits in the Fourth of July Tournament night cap.
Killian struckout nine Bandits in his six innings of work and allowed just three hits.
Pablo finished 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs.
Trevor Paro added a triple and an RBI for the Mariners.

POLSON — The Libby Loggers, down to their final at-bat, scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Dillon Cubs at the 4th of July Firecracker American Legion Baseball Tournament on Saturday morning.
Dillon starting pitcher Caleb Peets had a 6-4 lead and 14 strikeouts before giving up one run and leaving the game during the Loggers’ huge seventh inning.
Libby jumped on Cubs relief pitcher Nate Simkins, constructing their final rally to win the game 11-8.
Erik Lauer and Dylan Lane each had two hits and two RBIs for the Loggers.
