Bad dream? Whatever floats your boat

A man called Kalispell Police after he woke up from a bad dream saying he was worried about his boat, which he had dropped off to be serviced at a local business. The location has apparently had some thefts recently, so the restless man asked police to check that his boat was still parked inside the garage. No word on whether the authorities told the man to “Just go back to sleep.”

A man called to say he had just witnessed a drug deal on U.S. 93 South. The man claimed that the people he saw dealing drugs had also sold heroin to his son. Police spoke with the individuals involved, however, and concluded that nothing criminal was happening.

Two men were seen lying on the ground near the railroad tracks in the vicinity of East Center Street and Fourth Avenue East. One of the men seemed to be unconscious and both seemed very intoxicated.

A caller warned that a man was walking down East Center Street screaming at everyone he passed.

A man called to report his wife as a bigamist, saying she was married in Canada, then moved here and married him.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was called to a location on U.S. 2 east of Kalispell on Monday to pick up money believed to be counterfeit.

Police picked up a white pit bull mix on East Evergreen and later confirmed that it was the same animal that had bitten a child last week. The dog is in custody.

Three horses went missing in Columbia Falls on Sunday night. The owners, who described the horses as one red, one chestnut with a black mane and one with stockings, asked for a phone call if police locate the equestrian escapees.

A man reported that he was locked out of his driveway by his neighbor in Columbia Falls. There have been prior disputes between the two neighbors. The man had his driveway padlocked, but said his neighbor knew the combination, changed the lock, and locked him out. The man was advised to call a real estate agent to see if they had the combination for the lock.

A landlord reported a possible marijuana growing operation in the basement of his rental property in Whitefish. The landlord has kicked the renter out, but said there is still residue in the basement.

A driver in Marion said he heard a clunking noise as he was driving Sunday night. The next morning, a bullet hole was found in the frame of his pickup truck.

A business located on Stoner Loop in Lakeside was broken into and vandalized on Sunday night. It was unknown if anything was stolen.

There was a report of a stolen vehicle from Trumble Creek Road. The owner and her ex-husband each believed the other was driving the vehicle. The woman said her ex-husband has a brain injury which, coupled with a drinking problem, makes his memory unreliable. The keys for the vehicle were also missing from the home.

A person on a jet ski was reported cruising the river at speeds of about 45 miles per hour near Kingsway Park.

A man’s rental trailer in Columbia Falls was vandalized with a red permanent marker.

A horse was caught in a fence on First Avenue North in Martin City and another horse was kicking it. The caller’s husband cut the horse free from the fence and the owners were notified.

Two males were fighting outside of a bar on Montana 35. One had a knife and the other had a bat.


The Whitefish Police Department received a call Monday about a pickup driving around Iron Horse Drive with a rifle pointed out the window. Police caught up with the vehicle, found the rifle to be a BB gun and advised the driver not to point the gun out the window or fire it within city limits.


Columbia Falls Police responded to a complaint of a man walking into a woman’s home while she was eating breakfast. The man said he was looking for the woman’s roommate, but the woman had never seen him before. After he was removed from the home, he broke into the roommate’s bedroom through a window and locked himself in. When police arrived, the man was gone. The woman stated her roommate is being evicted.

A man called to report that his cousin and his cousin’s wife wanted to come to his house and fight him. The caller wanted to know if he could shoot them or use a baseball bat against them if they showed up. Dispatch advised him to not take any action and call 911. Dispatch also noted the man may have been intoxicated.
