Don't make employees work on Fourth of July

A salute to those employers who closed their doors on the Fourth of July so employees could celebrate the birth of our great nation.

With the exception of essential services why is it so important to require employees to work on this special holiday? Are we going to copy the Chinese employers who mandate employees sleep at the workplace so production can be ramped up at a moment’s notice?

Where is the sense of the dignity for human labor?

Hopefully American workers, the most productive in the world, will reject these practices and demand the respect they deserve. —Bill Breen, Kalispell
