Free meal program kicks off today

The free summer meals program is holding a midsummer kickoff event at Woodland Park today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The menu for the kickoff event includes bratwurst, coleslaw, fresh fruit and local vegetables. The event also will include a number of fun activities for the whole family.

Three free summer meal sites are located across Kalispell at Woodland Park, Elrod Elementary and Lawrence Park.

 At Woodland Park, breakfast is available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch available weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  At Elrod Elementary, breakfast is available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. And, at Lawrence Park, lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

 The last day of summer meals is Aug. 22. Meals are free to children and teens ages 18 and younger. Parents don’t need to apply to the program; they can just bring their child to a summer meals site.
