Show off your photography in the great outdoors

PHOTOTAXIS is a gathering of a community of photographers, offering a live slideshow projected on the side of a rustic barn under the stars and Mission Mountains at FarmRd in Polson.

This year the event will be held on Aug. 23 from 7 to 11 p.m., with the slideshow beginning at 9 p.m. Last year’s participants included photographers from Montana, California, Spain, New York and Boston.

PHOTOTAXIS submissions and the live slideshow are open to all. If you cannot attend your work is welcome. If you just want to spend a night under the stars admiring the creative work of others, it is free to attend but donations will be appreciated.

The show will feature the work of emerging photographers alongside that of established photographers with the goal of strengthening the photography community.

A portfolio walk along with drinks and food will be from 7 to 9 p.m. just prior to the slideshow. If you have paid to submit to the slideshow than you are welcome this year to bring a few prints, a portfolio, or a book of your work for everyone to view.

PHOTOTAXIS 2014 has an open theme but all submitted photos must be noncommissioned, personal work. Please submit 5 to 12 photos. Everyone who submits will be included and will have at least one or up to all 12 selected for the slideshow presentation. After the live slideshow the complete curated presentation will be posted in video format on Vimeo. 

Submissions are due by July 31.
