Charlotte Anne Spaugh Gilley, 71

| July 12, 2014 1:00 PM

Charlotte Anne Spaugh Gilley was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Coquille, Ore., to Lyle K. and Bonita (Fee) Spaugh.

Charlotte spent her early childhood in southwest Oregon. In 1957, her family moved to Kalispell where she graduated from Flathead County High School in 1960. Charlotte was employed at the Daily Inter Lake as a proofreader/reporter before accepting a job in Coos Bay, Ore., at the World Newspaper.

Charlotte married Robert L. Gilley on Oct. 26, 1963, while in Coos Bay. In 2001, they were divorced. Together they had six children, Robert of Salt Lake City, Ray and Ann of Minot, N.D., Rick and Bobbie of Kalispell, Patrick of Missoula, Kathleen and Nate Schelin of Bothell, Wash., and Thomas and Jamie of Nampa, Idaho. Charlotte's pride and joy were her 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Charlotte's passion was caring for others, as she did in childcare for 17 years in her home before joining Smith Memorial Day Care Center for 19 years. Charlotte also volunteered at the Abbie House, Jail Ministry, 40 Days for Life, Cub Scouts and Boy Scout Leader, St. Matthew’s religious education for 30 years, and Daughters of Isabella, local and state offices.

Special thanks to Bobbie and Teresa.

Charlotte left us peacefully on July 3, 2014. She will be truly missed.

“We love you, Mom.”
