Honors students still sought for FVCC program
A few spots remain open for fall admission into the Scholars Program at Flathead Valley Community College. The program provides motivated students opportunities to experience academically rigorous cross-disciplinary honors courses.
According to Scholars Program Director Christina Relyea, the program’s mission is to encourage talent and stimulate the imagination. Students are provided more extensive perspectives on topics through seminar-style classes that incorporate two or more disciplines. Classes are taught by a team of two instructors and are offered during the fall and spring semesters at FVCC.
Each full-time student accepted into the program can receive a full-tuition waiver for up to four semesters and will be assigned a faculty mentor. Additionally, students will have access to the Scholars Program Center, which consists of study area, classroom and library. Program graduates will receive special recognition and will be presented with medallions at commencement.
The program provides students with seamless transitions to either the Davidson Honors College at the University of Montana or the University Honors Program at Montana State University. The program also assists students in successfully transferring to honors programs at four-year colleges and universities across the nation.
Class sizes are limited to 20 students. Applications will continue to be accepted until the program is full. For more information and admissions requirements, visit www.fvcc.edu/scholarsprogram.html, or contact Relyea at 756-3946 or crelyea@fvcc.edu.
