'Jerk' wanders in Whitefish

An incensed person on Central Avenue called Whitefish Police Department to report “a jerk wandering around Whitefish.” The alleged jerk was described as a drunken bearded man and a “typical hippie.” When police asked how the man was being a jerk, the person said, “he is just being an ***hole,” but wouldn’t give further details.

Police searched Whitefish Lake after a woman on Wisconsin Avenue received a call from an intoxicated male stating that he and another male were stranded on Whitefish Lake on wake, or paddle boards for four hours in a cove. The woman believed they were close to a lodge and didn’t seem like they were in distress that they only wanted a taxi as they made their way to shore.

A bouncer at a Central Avenue bar, who didn’t have time for riffraff, reported a plaid-shirted man was starting a fight with bouncers and refused to leave. The man eventually left on his own.

After being refused two “tall boys,” because it was after hours, a “regular” at a U.S. 93 business put $6 on the counter and fled with the alcohol. The manager said the items were worth $5, and completed the transaction, but wanted to report it since it was after hours. 

A man on Spokane Avenue reported a lion walked in front of his truck and crossed the road near a market.

An employee from a business on Spokane Avenue reported that a customer had someone duplicate their debit card and withdrew about $5,000 in Georgia.

Someone on Central Avenue reported that a person was sleeping in a vehicle parked on the side of the road for the past few nights.


Kalispell Police Department responded to a man who said he had a belligerent person in his house, but would not give his location, instead he asked officers meet him at the corner of Third Avenue West and Eleventh Street West and would show officers where he lived.

Two people attempted to shoplift two carts of groceries, but abandoned them when they were being followed.

A car battery was reported missing from a church bus on Summit Ridge Road.

A person on Kenway Drive called to report she was moving out of her apartment and just noticed white tape around all her windows. She said the cat was going crazy because of the tape and that the tape was causing her and the cat to become hypnotic.

A disgruntled customer who took their pants for tailoring on Liberty Street called Kalispell Police Department complaining that a lady was trying to charge them $80, but did not do anything to the pants.

A man on Rimrock Court reported that vicious dogs had been digging holes under his fence.

A man on Appleway Drive reported that his ex’s fiancé was allegedly inappropriately touching his young daughter.

A person on Second Avenue East called to report their cousin, who was trying to jump his car in the alley, had crawled through a window and they got into an argument.

Party revelers dispersed after police were called to report noise and a bonfire outside from someone in an apartment building on First Avenue West.

Two males were reported sleeping, one in a sleeping bag, at the intersection of Hutton Ranch Road and U.S. 93 North.

A woman on Sixth Avenue Street East received a suspicious phone call from someone claiming to be with Windows after her computer went down for a couple of seconds. She said when they got on her computer and tried to sell her something she said “no,” and shut it down.


Columbia Falls Police Department responded to a call from a woman on Fifth Avenue West who was unsettled after a visit from a man who was allegedly selling security systems door-to-door.

A woman on Martha Road reported that someone poured sugar or syrup into her gas tank.

Police made a visit to a Sixth Avenue West residence after getting a call where a male and female were heard screaming at each other and another girl asking “if her mother was all right.” When police called back, a crying female said it was an accidental dial, but a male could be heard in the background threatening “that the cops better not show up.”

A person on Ninth Street West was found sleeping in his vehicle and said he had problems at home and “needed a place to nap for a bit.”
