WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins finished out pool-play on a strong note at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament on Saturday morning, taking down the Calgary Jr. Dinos 8-1 at Memorial Field.

Glacier took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning, but the Twins really broke the game open by putting six runs across in the top of the second.

The Dinos would sneak a run across the plate in the fourth, but that’s all Glacier would allow in the victory.

Starting pitcher A.J. Wetsch threw four innings to earn the victoy on the mound for the Twins. He gave up just one hit while striking out three and surrendering just one walk.

Offensively, the Twins were led by Vinny Smith and Jesse Walburn. Both had multi-hit games, going 2 for 3 at the plate and driving in a run. Colten Parker hit a double and had a game-high two RBIs.

Box scores for the tournament play weren’t submitted by press time, but the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament concludes tomorrow. The consolation championship is at 9:30 a.m. with the championship following at noon.
