Agency looks to add 19 acres of island habitat

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region One is seeking public comment on a plan to acquire 19.72 acres of island habitats along the Flathead River.
These parcels would be added to the existing Otter Island Fisheries Conservation Area that is located along the west side of the mainstem Flathead River about 1.5 miles east of downtown Kalispell.
A draft environmental assessment for the island additions is out for public review through July 30.
Copies of the draft envioronmental study are available at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks office, 490 N. Meridian Rd., Kalispell; on the website fwp.mt.gov under Public Notices; and at local libraries.
