Hint: Sheriff is not federal debt collector
A woman received a call from people with accents claiming to be representatives of the federal government. They said the woman owed $495 in back taxes. They said they would call the sheriff’s office on her if she didn’t pay up and that an officer would be at her home in about 45 minutes. Imagine their surprise when the woman instead called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office herself to report them! Actually they couldn’t be surprised because they are not from around here and probably don’t read the Law Enforcement Roundup. The woman was advised that it’s an ongoing scam, possibly of international origin.
A couple of vehicles were broken into on Southside Drive and a cell phone was stolen.
A careful citizen called police to let them know that he was out and about on Beach Road in Bigfork and that any reports they received about him were false. He also thanked all law enforcement for the work they do.
A troubled teenager with a gun came to a woman’s house, pointed the weapon at her dog, and said he was going to shoot it. Oddly enough, when the woman told him it was her dog, he left on his bike.
Kalispell Police responded to a report of animal cruelty on Third Avenue West. The caller stated she witnessed bunnies being beaten in front of her apartment complex on Monday night.
A dispute between neighbors got a little nasty on Second Street West when a woman accused the other’s teenage son of shooting squirrels with a BB gun in her yard.
After receiving threats, a scared citizen reported that a man told the woman in person and via text that he was going to burn her house down and kill her family.
A perturbed man reported that his girlfriend in Washington state hacked his online accounts and had been sending nude photos of him to people.
A man threatened to burn a woman’s house down because she didn’t sell him a car. The woman stated she did not sell him the vehicle because he didn’t have enough money to buy it.
A man called to report that his neighbor has a meth lab in her garage.
Columbia Falls Police responded to a call about a small child running down the street wearing just a diaper. When officers made contact with the child’s father, he stated that he has safety handles on the doorknobs but the toddler had figured out how to open the doors anyway.
Whitefish Police received a report of a burglary on East Second Street that occurred sometime Sunday night.
An employee is reportedly suspected of taking money from the bar where he or she works on Central Avenue.
