Twins find a way past Lakers A
A perfect 4 for 4 at the plate, Vinny Smith led the Glacier Twins at the plate in the dramatic 14-13 come-from-behind victory over the Kalispell Lakers A in a nine inning game at Griffin Field on Wednesday.
The offense was on display all night long. Both teams scored two runs in the first inning, but the Lakers put five runs across in the second to take an early 7-4 lead.
Whenever Glacier threatened the Lakers, Kalispell would promptly answer in the bottom half of the inning. Each team scored three runs in the fourth inning, and two in the sixth.
Alas, for Kalispell a dreadful eighth inning would prove costly.
Glacier scored four runs, taking a one-run lead, which would go unanswered as they held on for the win.
Smith hit a double and a triple in the contest, driving in a game-high four RBIs. Teammate Jayce Fagerland also collected four hits in the game. He went 4 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Colten Parker, Kyler Howke and Austin Robins all earned two-hit games with one RBI.
Kalispell had plenty of power at the plate as well. Tiler Whiteaker, Pat O’Connell and Keatin Mohl all hit triples. Whiteaker finished with a team-high three RBIs while O’Connell and Leif Erickson added two each.
The Twins can’t celebrate for long. They’ll face the Lakers today in Whitefish at 7 p.m. before their third matchup of the week on Saturday in Kalispell.
