McIver leads State Men's Am golf by 1 shot
WHITEFISH — Brandon McIver of Billings shot a 3-under 69 on the North Course to top the leaderboard Thursday at the 97th annual Montana State Men’s Amateur Golf Tournament at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.
Kalispell’s Ryan Porch is one shot back with Jordy Donoven of Kremlin in third with a 71.
Only three golfers broke par.
Ten golfers shot 72 for a logjam at fourth place. Included in that bunch is Jason Winkler of Kalispell.
Logan Lindholm and Joel Mallams of Whitefish both shot 73 while Reed Platke of Whitefish, Ryan Keenan of Bigfork, Scott Larson of Kalispell and Joe Cielak of Libby all carded 74s.
The 54-hole tournament ends Saturday.
McIver, a junior with the University of Oregon golf team, is the defending champion.
