Cycle crash halts traffic on U.S. 2
A Jeep sport utility vehicle hauling a camper trailer rear-ended two motorcycles Friday at noon on U.S. 2 at the mouth of Bad Rock Canyon.
The accident caused traffic to back up — particularly in the eastbound lane — for almost two hours.
The driver and passenger of one motorcycle were transported to the hospital via the ALERT helicopter. The driver was pinned underneath the vehicle and remained there until emergency responders arrived.
“As the motorcycles were slowing down in traffic, the Jeep pulling the camper came up behind him and wasn’t able to stop in time,” Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Thorne said. “I believe the driver wasn’t necessarily trapped but he stayed under there because of his injuries,”
Traffic was heavy on U.S. 2 Friday afternoon and there was road construction in the area.
