Jack Seaman Hiatt, 85

Jack Seaman Hiatt died July 22, 2014, in Kalispell.  

He was born in Rice, Washington on Dec. 6, 1928.  

Jack served in the United States Navy from 1945 to1949 and was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. His shipmates called him "Red.”  

In 1977, Jack married Berniece English in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He drove log trucks for LHC and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Schellenger, and retired 20 years ago.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.  

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Berniece Hiatt; his children, daughter Judy and John Dillon of Newport, Oregon, daughter Corby and Don Morey of Sherwood, Oregon, and son Roger and Michelle English of Kalispell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, grandson Levi and Kaylin English of Kalispell, grandson Tyler English and fiancée Jill Lehr of Kalispell, and granddaughters Stacy Schreiner of Oregon and Lisa Nelson of Georgia. Jackson English is his great-grandson.  

Jack's family wishes to thank West Valley Search and Rescue, Alert and emergency response personnel for their prompt care of Jack, with a very special thanks to the VA Medical Center of Kalispell for Jack’s superb care over the years.

The family requests no flowers but please donate to a veterans’ association of your choice.  

A private service for family and close friends will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A reception will follow at 5 p.m. at a family residence.
