Mountain lion spotted in Kalispell

Kalispell Police Department received a report from Fourth Avenue East and Eighth Avenue East of a mountain lion running from the school into someone’s backyard and appeared to have been chasing something.

A person on U.S. 93 called to report a man stopping traffic, waving money and trying to get a ride. The man then got into a car. The caller believed both the man and driver were involved in a scam. The man was later seen throwing something in the bushes, which allegedly was marijuana. The man yelled at the caller and then began yelling at others.

Someone at a business on First Avenue West reported that a woman tried to return backpacks that had been stolen earlier, using a fake receipt.

A person on West Idaho Street reported that a man, whose hand was bleeding, had hit a woman. The man went looking for her after she left on foot.

Someone from a Fourth Avenue East residence reported an unruly woman who was “out of it,” and trying to get into a locked building where she wasn’t supposed to be. Her brother was on the scene trying to “keep her under control” by sitting on her and holding her down while she screamed. 

A man was seen crawling across a roof and got into a neighbor’s apartment on Two Mile Drive and was yelling at a woman to let him in. His attempts to get in were unsuccessful.

A concerned father brought his 14-year-old daughter, who had been drinking, into the police station wanting to talk to an officer.

A man was accused of shoplifting condoms and a drink from a Third Avenue East North business until he came back into the store to pay for the items and that it was just a “misunderstanding.” 

A vicious girlfriend allegedly came home drunk and attacked a man by slapping him, jumping on him and trying to choke him at his Eighth Street East residence.

The back window of a rental car was busted and items stolen on U.S. 93 South.

A man and woman barged into a woman’s home on Eighth Street East and threw things around, supposedly looking for money.

A man on Second Avenue East North called to report a hotheaded neighbor was banging on his door and yelling about driving over a brick in the alleyway. The man had been converting his garage right off the alley.


Columbia Falls Police Department responded to a hit and run between a vehicle and a pedestrian walking at a cross walk. The pedestrian was hit in the hip, which started to bruise. The driver was described as a male in his early 70s driving an older, four-door sedan that was gray or light tan in color.

A fed-up woman called from her Third Avenue East residence to report a racist neighbor who allegedly threatened to call the KKK to remove people from her house since she had a “mixed family.” She reported that the neighbor hung a picture of Mickey Mouse holding a swastika with a middle finger raised in his bedroom window. She said he had been harassing her for about a year over small things. 

An inebriated woman who called to report she was too drunk to drive, decided she would sleep in her car, but couldn’t find it.


Whitefish Police Department assisted a confused woman who was stuck in her truck in a business parking lot off U.S. 93. The woman stated that she didn’t know what happened and could not get out and that her husband, who went inside a business, wasn’t aware she was stuck.

A huge fight involving roughly 20 people broke out in front of a Central Avenue bar.

A separate fight occured by pool tables at a Central Avenue establishment between two men. One of whom, wasn’t wearing a shirt. 

Fraudulent bank activity involving two checks and a credit card transaction was reported from Hospital Way.


Somers-Lakeside Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Bierney Creek Road in Lakeside.
