Dragon boat fun returns Sept. 13-14

The third annual Montana Dragon Boat Festival is coming up Sept. 13-14 at Flathead Lake Lodge.

Teams of 20 paddlers will compete in colorful 46-foot dragon boats.  

Races run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14. 

Admission is free and food and beverage vendors will be on site. The festival includes children’s games and activities, a Made in Montana vendor showcase, live music and a special breast cancer survivor ceremony Sept. 13 at noon. 

Parking is $10 per car at the corner of Montana 82 and 35 near Bigfork.  

On Sept. 13 at 6 p.m., the celebration moves to Red Lion Hotel in Kalispell for the Dragon Bash with free beverage sampling by local vendors, dinner and live music. Tickets are $25 and include dinner, music and dancing.

The Montana Dragon Boat Festival is sponsored by the Flathead Community Foundation and organized by the Kalispell Convention & Visitor Bureau.
