Father captures bat he found on crib
A Marion man called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday to report that he had found a bat on his child’s crib that morning. He had trapped the live bat and had it contained, but while on the phone, the man discovered that the bat had escaped. He later located the bat, caught it again, and dropped it off at the local animal shelter, where it was sent to the state Department of Livestock for rabies testing.
A man called to report another man on Shady Lane who was taking young girls into his tent and trying to show them pornography videos.
A Lakeside woman reported her husband missing Tuesday at around 6 p.m. when he didn’t return from kayaking on Flathead Lake in time to pick up his child from day care. Officers were able to locate the man, who was actually sleeping on his couch.
A black cat on Meridian Road appeared to have been hit by a car. The feline was dazed but alive, according to the caller.
A woman called from a residence on South Cedar Drive to report that her neighbors keep stealing her cat.
Officers were called to a location on North Street in Hungry Horse where someone had “trashed the property,” according to the caller. There was no damage, but garbage, including pill bottles, was all over the place.
Children found an arrow in their backyard on Grandale Avenue. Their father was concerned it could have been shot while the kids were outside playing.
A rental car business in Columbia Falls advised police that they had a vehicle overdue by six weeks and were unable to make contact with the renter. Officers made contact with the renter, who was still making payments. He agreed to return the car the next day.
A Florida woman who stayed at a rental near Columbia Falls thought she had left behind her diamond and gold earrings. The rental company said they did not find the earrings.
A man called from a location on Montana 35 to report that he had sent his girlfriend out to get beer on Sunday and hasn’t seen her since.
A cow was spotted walking down Halfmoon Road.
Police had to separate two men on Trails End Drive when a caller reported they were fighting with one another. The caller told dispatch the two men had been “partying and drinking and screaming.”
A woman called Whitefish Police from her residence on Columbia Avenue to report that all of her flowers were pulled out and thrown around. She informed officers of ongoing issues between her and her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend.
A silver Audi hit a fence Tuesday on West Second Street and took off, according to the caller. The fence was damaged and had silver paint left on it from the car.
A man was riding his bike home on Iowa Avenue when several occupants of a vehicle started yelling at him to get off of the road, and then started to chase him in the vehicle. The man had to jump into the bushes to get away from them.
Columbia Falls Police were called to a location on Ninth Street West where it appeared a vehicle had rammed through the gate of a chain-link fence.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of suspicious activity near Boetcher Park and made an arrest on disorderly conduct charges.
