POLSON — Libby hung with Frenchtown for five innings, but couldn’t hang with the eventual state champions in the final two, falling in the semifinals before a 4-2 loss to Belgrade in the consolation final at the Class A state softball tournament on Saturday.

The Loggers scored two runs in the top of the third inning in their morning contest against Frenchtown, tying the defending champs at 2-2. The even score was short-lived as the Broncs scored again in the bottom half of the frame.

Libby hung with Frenchtown until the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Broncs scored four runs to break the game open. Frenchtown scored four again in the seventh to win 11-2.
