Twins top Loggers
LIBBY — The Glacier Twins scored twice with two outs in the third inning of a Class A American Legion conference game against Libby to give pitcher Jonny Sapa all the help he needed to pull out a 7-2 victory at Lee Gehring Field.
An error by Libby pitcher Will Reichel allowed the first run to score and Colten Parker stole home on a passed ball to take the 2-0 lead for the Twins in the third. Glacier would score again in the fifth on a single from Kyler Howke before the Loggers got on the board.
Libby had three straight hits to start the bottom of the fifth, the last a single from Erik Lauer to score the team’s first run of the game and narrow the deficit to 3-1.
Glacier would score three times in the top of the sixth to end that rally and led 7-1 in the ninth before the Loggers tacked on their final run.
Parker, Colton Gove, Vincent Smith and Tyler Murphy each had two hits for the Twins, who finished with 11 in the game.
Sapa had four strikeouts and allowed four hits and one run in six innings on the hill.
The Twins host a Kalispell Lakers A team today to continue a nine-inning conference game that was rained out in the first inning on Tuesday. Libby plays a doubleheader at Cranbrook, British Columbia on Saturday.
