It was a tough Friday night for the young cowboys in the rough stock events at the Montana High School Rodeo Finals at Majestic Valley Arena.

Only three of the 15 saddle bronc riders posted scores while all 10 entrants in the bareback failed to hear the eight-second whistle.

Three of 17 bull riders managed to net a score. Jess Lockwood of Volborg is the leader with a 79.5 mark. Houston Brown of Miles City is next at 73.

Jake Curtis of Bonner has 51.5.

Alan Gobert of Browning leads the saddle bronc with his 76.5. Colton and T.J. Green, both of Cohagen, are tied for second with 67s.

Will Powell of St. Ignatius turned in the best time in steer wrestling, 4.46 seconds. Marshal Ray of East Glacier was second at 5.95. Those were the only two to break the six-second mark.

Rodeo action continues today with timed events from 9-11 a.m. followed by a night performance at 6.

The rodeo concludes Sunday with the Championship Go Round at 11 a.m. The top 16 individuals in all events advance to that competition.
