The Kalispell Aquatic Team Swimming thanks the Northridge Lutheran Church and Kalispell Chamber of Commerce for their help with the season banquet.

The church provided the facility for the team and its guests.

The Chamber provided postcards at the event with Kalispell business promotions, travel information and details about the KATS Winter Invitational swim meet. The postcards were then given to participants in the recent Lethbridge swim meet. The Canadians were thrilled to get the postcards.

As a kickoff for the KATS Swim Around the World program, the team represented the United States in the Canadian meet that had more than 600 participants from across Western Canada.

The KATS are swimming around the world en route to the Zone Meet in Hawaii in 2015. Team members are traveling to different countries (via weekly team mileage) and rewarded with food and fun upon reaching their virtual destination.

The Glacier Street Rod Association had a successful fifth annual Swap Meet and Car Show May 17 at Raceway Park in Kalispell.

According to organizer Andy Tweet, one vendor said he did so well, he took in $200 and spent $300. Others went home with more than they brought to sell.

Throughout the day stories were swapped along with car parts.  Trophies were awarded to various classes at the car show.

The association would like to thank all of the sponsors, vendors and attendees for their strong support. Gate admission to the event was donated to the Northwest Montana Veterans Food Pantry. Several generously gave more to aid the veterans. The club also held a food drive at the gate and was able to donate $508 and 240 pounds of food from gate proceeds to the pantry.

Jerri Swenson wrote on behalf of the Kaawa’pomaakaa Society animal rescue group in Browning to thank All Saints Episcopal Church in Whitefish for its generous donation of more than $1,100 from its golf tournament to help the dogs on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

“In just six months, generous Flathead animal lovers have donated $6,000,” Swenson said. “We’ve also sent over 5,000 pounds of dog food to Browning to feed the homeless dogs.”

The society was started four and a half years ago by Darrell Kipp, an educator, author, filmmaker and historian who co-founded the Piegan Institute in Browning. The society, which operates wholly on donations, conducts three spay and neuter clinics annually.

For more information, to donate or become a foster home, contact Swenson at 862-5995 or send donations to the Kaawa’pomaakaa Society, in care of Swenson, 100 Second St. E., Whitefish, MT 59937.
