Virginia Rita Rogers, 88

Virginia Rita Rogers was born June 14, 1925, in Pasadena, Calif. She completed 14 years of education.

She passed away June 5, 2014, in Kalispell.

Virginia met her future husband and love of her life, Benjamin Rogers, while attending John Marshal High School in Pasadena. Her first job was at an optical company.

Ben joined the Navy and when he returned home they were married on March 4, 1946. They settled in Pasadena. She spent many years raising five children, three daughters and two sons. She also worked part time for the local water company. She was a beautiful seamstress, dabbled in art, loved music and loved to sing and dance. They also enjoyed traveling, which included three trips to Alaska.

When Ben retired from the Los Angeles County sheriffs, they moved to their home in Lakeside. Ben and Virginia enjoyed having lunch at Scotty's almost daily. They hosted many large family gatherings at their home in both the summer and winter.  

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years of marriage, Ben Rogers; daughter, Katherine Rogers; and son, Don Rogers.

She is survived by daughters, Rita Rogers of Newport Beach, Calif., and Carol Corbett and husband Pat of Ellensburg, Wash.; son, James Rogers, of Lakeside; and widow of son Don Rogers, Mary Ellen Rogers, of Manzanita Beach, Ore.; grandchildren, Margot Roche and husband John, Eric Corbett and wife Erin,  Heather Grooms and husband Ray, Ben Corbett and wife Joy, Jack Corbett, Jamie Rogers, Genna Rogers, Josh Rogers, Tyler Rogers, Sam Rogers, Tulse Rogers and wife Audrey, Radha Rogers and Carlos, Sara Kibit and husband Henry, Hans Rogers, and Anna Speser and husband Arendt; and 17, plus one on the way, great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., today, June 11, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Kalispell.
