WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins swept the Libby Loggers in an American Legion baseball doubleheader on Wednesday night, narrowly escaping both contests.

The tightly contested first game of the doubleheader saw the Twins grab an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

Libby would score one run in the third, but Glacier answered with one of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

Twins pitcher Austin Robins would give up one more earned run in the top of the fifth, but he kept the Loggers scoreless in the sixth, while Ryle Nahrgang closed out the seventh for the save, and Glacier won 3-2.

Robins struck out four Loggers in his six innings of work.

Colten Parker led the Twins at the plate with his 3 for 3 effort. He hit the game’s only triple and drove in a run.

Libby’s Cameron Burkes went 3 for 4, while teammate Luke Haggerty earned the Logger’s lone RBI in the loss.

The second game of the twin bill featured a gem from Glacier starter A.J. Wetsch.

Wetsch carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning until Libby’s Austin Marshall earned a base hit to break up the Glacier ace’s bid.

Wetsch was pulled in the seventh after his one-hit performance which included three strikeouts and no walks, leading the Twins to a 3-0 victory.

Offensively, Wetsch helped out his own cause, hitting an RBI double while going 1 for 2 in the game.

The Twins broke a scoreless tie with a two-run fourth inning and added another run in the fifth.

James Ratzlaff also hit an RBI double for Glacier who swept the Loggers after having their 12-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday to the Kalispell Lakers AA.

Both Libby and Glacier will be back in action on Friday.

The Twins will head to Port Falls, Idaho, for the Prairie Cardinal Tournament, while the Loggers travel to Helena for the Class A Helena Tournament.
