Summer guitar concert features Chuck Pyle, John Floridis
A Crown Summer Guitar Celebration, featuring Chuck Pyle and the John Floridis Trio, is set for 4 p.m. June 22 at BruMar Estate near Bigfork.
The music party will feature two dynamic artists — “Zen Cowboy” Chuck Pyle and the John Floridis Trio.
Admission is free with a $10 per person suggested donation to the Guitar Foundation. Raffle and door prize drawings will be held.
A terrific guitar picker, Pyle mixes infectiously hummable melodies with straight-from-the-saddle poetry. His songs have been recorded by John Denver, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Suzy Bogguss. Many know him best for writing “Cadillac Cowboy,” recorded by the late Chris LeDoux, and “Jaded Lover,” recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker.
Floridis is a talented and energetic acoustic guitarist and songwriter whose trio received a Northwest Emmy Award in 2013 for their appearance on the PBS television series “11th and Grant” with Eric Funk. His trio mates include Ed Stalling on drums and bassist John Sporman.
The event will be held at BruMar Estate. Weather permitting it will be held outside on the lawn; bring blankets or chairs. In case of rain the event moves indoors and seating will be provided. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, as well as a full no-host bar.
Gates open at 3 p.m. for the event, which is produced by the nonprofit Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation, which offers the Crown Guitar Workshop and Festival, this year to be held Aug. 24-31 at Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork.
BruMar Estate is located at 29048 Broken Leg Road just off Montana 83. Signs will be posted on Montana 35, 9.6 miles from the junction with Broken Leg Road.
