Pilfered plush giraffe returned safely

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office apprehended and returned “Geoffrey,” a five-foot stuffed giraffe, to its owner after it was reported stolen from a Ridgewood Drive home. The pilfered plush pet was located in a Shady Lane home.

A frustrated Farm to Market Road resident said a neighbor to the north was discharging firearms or detonating explosives, rattling the resident’s shop. A responding deputy reported a device had been exploded, but safely.

A Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest of a man known for being a sexually violent predator on a $90,000 warrant for violating his probation.

An upset grandmother and then the man who was the focus of her wrath each called the Kalispell Police Department Thursday. The grandmother reported the man was in his Ninth Avenue West yard taking pictures of her 3-year-old granddaughter, asking her to turn around and bend over. She spoke with the man, who claimed to be with a magazine company and said he would delete the pictures. A few minutes later, the man called and said he had been outside in his yard taking pictures of the neighborhood children when the woman came out and acted upset with him.

A pair of callers reported a man dressed in black in the Empire Loop area. The first said the man had just tried to get inside their home and the second reported the man running through the park and having seen the man all over the neighborhood.

A drunk woman in her 50s was arrested at her boyfriend’s East Oregon Street home after she was reported yelling and throwing things around the house.

A semi-trailer struck and got wrapped in a cable and phone line from a utility pole in an alley behind West Idaho Street at Seventh Avenue West North.

A suspicious canister on the corner of Fifth Avenue West and Fifth Street West turned out to be a container of protein powder.
