Increased momentum in the local construction industry is reflected in the Whitefish Planning Board’s agenda for Thursday, with four of five public hearings geared to building projects.

Whitefish West Limited Partnership plans to subdivide 4.4 acres into 15 single-family lots at 265 Haugen Heights Road at the base of Lion Mountain. The property currently is undeveloped.

EDM Development is asking for a conditional-use permit to build a five-plex on an undeveloped parcel at 221/231 O’Brien Ave. The property is zoned for general business, but residential uses are both permitted and conditionally permitted in that zone.

Two of the public hearings deal with conditional-use permit requests to build accessory apartments.

William and MaiBritt Bennett want to convert a recreational vehicle garage into an apartment at 416 Ramsey Ave.

Brett and Janice Pierce are asking for a permit to build an apartment above a proposed garage at 728 Columbia Ave.

In other business, the city of Whitefish is asking for a review of the 2007 Whitefish City-County Growth Policy, including a review of future land-use mapping, infill policy and implementation priorities.

A work session will be held on the newly drafted U.S. 93 West Corridor Land Use Plan.

The board meets at 6 p.m. Thursday at Whitefish City Hall.
