Firearm pawning deal goes awry

Kalispell Police responded Wednesday to a report of a man and woman attempting to pawn a firearm at an East Idaho pawn shop where it was determined the gun was stolen in Flathead County. The man and woman were taken to the police station for interviews, and it turned out that three other firearms and a flat screen television were taken in the same theft.

There was a report of a woman talking to herself while sitting under a stairwell in a recliner with a blanket on Airport Road.

An officer responded to a report of a man who fell in a parking lot on Third Avenue East, suffering a head injury. The man turned out to be intoxicated and he claimed he was beaten up by Mexican meth dealers. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Thursday morning, there was a report of a door being kicked in on a Ninth Avenue West house, and jewelry being stolen from the residence.

There was a report of three tires being slashed on a vehicle while parked on Airport Road.

A man calling from U.S. 93 South reported that he located items stolen from his business at a local pawn shop.

A woman was cited for shoplifting from a store on North Main Street.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a call Wednesday from a mother whose son left their Valley View Drive residence in her car without permission. She didn’t know whether to report him for unauthorized use or report him as a runaway juvenile.

There was a report of a welder being stolen from a shop on a Conrad Drive property.


Whitefish Police got a report Wednesday about two men fighting on the ground on Central Avenue. The men were gone by the time an officer arrived.

A man turned himself in at the police station to be arrested on a warrant.

Early Thursday, at about 2:20 a.m., there was a report of a man being disorderly on East First Street. The man reportedly spit on his girlfriend.


Columbia Falls Police were called Wednesday about a suspicious man who sat down in the lobby of a business on Ninth Street West and stared at a couple of employees. After he left, an employee found a bullet on a table where the man was sitting. The man was later located, and he said he dropped the bullet by mistake.
