Panhandlers hazed from bus stop

A dispatcher for Eagle Transit requested that Kalispell Police remove two panhandlers from a bus stop on Hutton Ranch Road because they have been a deterrent to passengers boarding the bus. The panhandlers were told to move along or else be cited under the city’s panhandling ordinance.

There was a report of an altercation between two men at Willow Glen Drive and Kelly Road.

A woman calling from Denver Avenue reported the theft of a gun from her vehicle recently.

A person called with concerns about a man who was wearing a pistol on his hip and yelling at people at a location on U.S. 93 South. The man could not be located.

There was a report of two teenage boys throwing rocks at windows on a small outbuilding and breaking them on South Meridian Road.

Someone saw a man laying on a bench on Hawthorn Avenue with a gun tucked into his jeans. At one point, the man pointed the gun at the sky, but he apparently didn’t threaten anyone. The man could not be located.

There was a report of a loud party at Ninth Street East and Third Avenue East. The residents were told to keep it down.

A woman calling from East Idaho Street said she had a confrontation with an intoxicated man who was cussing and yelling and throwing garbage at her.

Friday, a person asked for help in getting an unwanted disorderly man to leave a facility on Fifth Avenue West.

A person wanted help in getting another unwanted man to leave a location on First Avenue West North. The man was advised he is not welcome there.

A Vista Loop resident said someone smashed the back window of a vehicle.

There was a report of a vehicle being vandalized at a location on U.S. 93 South.

Buildings at Woodland Park were vandalized with graffiti.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report from a Conrad Drive resident Thursday about a man on a bicycle who was selling children’s books and harassing people in the neighborhood.

A man calling from Newlin Drive in the Marion area said his soon-to-be ex-wife had stolen a vehicle, even though she doesn’t have a valid license and the vehicle is uninsured.

There was a report of batteries being stolen from a location on U.S. 93 north of Kalispell.

A woman said she returned to her Farm-to-Market Road home to find a muddy boot print inside. A burglary was suspected, but it was unclear if anything was stolen.

Someone reported the theft of a solar charger from a field off U.S. 2 east of Columbia Falls.

There was a report of a residence on Montana 40 west of Columbia Falls being burglarized sometime over the winter. The caller said doors were damaged and “everything has been cleaned out.”

A man was found passed out on an outdoor table off U.S. 2 in Hungry Horse. The man, who was non-responsive, was transported to a hospital.

A woman calling from Bitterroot Drive requested assistance in getting an unwanted man removed from her residence.

A woman calling from Shady Lane said her husband attacked her, then disabled her vehicle before leaving on a motorcycle.

A woman reported being harassed by a woman who was having an affair with her husband after the two had an exchange of emails. The reporting party said that the other woman’s mother was also harassing her.

There was a report of a suspicious man repeatedly yelling in a field off Shady Lane. He could not be located.

A woman was caught shoplifting from a store on U.S. 2 in Evergreen.

Friday at about 1:30 a.m., there was a report of two brothers being disorderly with each other at a location off U.S. 2 west of Columbia Falls.

At about 3:45 p.m., sheriff’s personnel responded to a rafting incident on the North Fork Flathead River between Big Creek and Glacier Rim. A father and two sons were in a raft that flipped. After they got it back on the water, the dad was in the raft and the sons were on the river bank. The dad floated downstream and lost contact with the sons, so he requested help in locating them. No one was injured in the incident. The river is flowing just a couple of  feet below its flood stage.


Whitefish Police got a call Thursday from an employee at a hotel on U.S. 93 West who said that a guest checked out and left a handgun behind in a room.

Friday, at about 1:40 a.m., an officer made a traffic stop on Kalispell Avenue and arrested a woman for drunk driving.


Columbia Falls Police were called Thursday by a landlord on Fourth Avenue West who said he was struck in the chest by one of his tenants.

After a traffic stop on Third Avenue West, a man was arrested for drunk driving.

A woman calling from Riverwood Lane said her teenage son attempted to steal her car and then ran away on foot.
