Man still missing from Libby after three weeks

Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe said his detectives have no leads about last month’s disappearance of a 32-year-old Libby man who stepped out of a bar to smoke — and never returned.

William “Bill” Tebby has been missing since May 30. He was last seen that night outside the Libby VFW between 11:30 p.m. and midnight, according to Tebby’s family.

Bowe said his office has been using search and rescue to check the Kootenai River and also called BNSF Railway to see if Tebby had used the trains.

But there was no record of Tebby.

There has been no action on his credit cards or bank accounts. Bowe said there were no leads and there was no evidence of foul play.

Tebby’s sister Wendy and his mother, Judy Hutchison, both said it was very uncharacteristic of him to avoid contact with friends and family for such a prolonged period of time. Tebby was living with his mother before his disappearance.

Tebby graduated from Thompson Falls High School. Hutchison said he was a quiet guy.

“He loved the great outdoors,” Hutchison said. “He loved fishing, he loved his family and he loved to help others.”

Tebby spent his days riding his bike and going to the creek.

Tebby was unemployed; the last job he held was at Young Guns Pizza in Libby.

Hutchison said Tebby stepped outside the bar for a smoke before he disappeared.

Tebby was last seen wearing faded blue jeans, a black T shirt, a dark green hat and white Nike shoes. He is about 5-foot-10 and 140 pounds.
