Park building targeted in Whitefish
The Whitefish Police Department discovered that a Parks and Recreation building on Lakeside Boulevard was broken into and several items were missing. Food was also eaten, and there was significant damage done with a fire extinguisher.
A woman complained about a pit-bull-type dog running around on Park Avenue. She said the dog could be aggressive and posed an ongoing problem to the neighborhood. She said she would file a formal report when she had more information.
A woman wandered around Dakota Avenue distraught, said a resident. She had returned from a party where she claimed someone had attempted to take advantage of her. She was not injured and declined medical attention. The man whom she claimed tried to take advantage of her called the police and said the woman had stolen his phone and shoe.
An elderly woman on West Fourth Street called to report a 9-year-old girl was trying to kick down the door to kill her 16-year-old sister and her sister’s newborn baby. The caller was a neighbor and was concerned even though there were no guns in the house. Officers responded and told the sisters they needed to get along.
A man with a bloodied face had passed out on the grass of a residence on Colorado Avenue. The caller was able to rouse the man, but he quickly fell back asleep.
The Columbia Falls Police Department took a call from a school district employee reporting several school buses had been targeted. Gas caps were missing and one of the vehicles had been vandalized.
A caller on Columbia Mountain Court reported his house had been egged and his vehicle damaged. Other houses in the neighborhood were also vandalized.
A caller gave a stranger a ride home but had to stop by her work on Nucleus Avenue first. She left the man in her car while she checked something, and when she returned her car was missing. The caller phoned back later and said the car wasn’t missing, but was used by a friend.
A man was allegedly picking fights with a group of youths. Officers caught up with the man, who claimed the kids were insulting his girlfriend.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a structure fire on Saint Andrews Drive in Columbia Falls at 8:52 p.m.
The Polson Police Department responded to vandalism and criminal mischief at a residence on 6th Street West.
A Polson delicatessen was the site of some petty theft.
