This Week in the Flathead: Big Sky Workshop

<p>Hana Hoch of Creston and Ethan Olson of Bozeman dancing at the Big Sky Workshop hosted by North End Swing on Sunday, June 22, in Kalispell. With the exception of July 4th North End Swing hosts a dance the first and third Friday of each month. Additionally the third annual Smooth Sailing event is tentatively scheduled for August. <p>Peter Flahiff of Santa Ana, California, smiles as he dances at the Big Sky Workshop on Sunday, June 22, in Kalispell. Flahiff has been coming to Montana for five years and takes great joy in watching the swing scene in Northwest Montana grow and grow. Attendance at the workshop this year was nearly double that of 2013. More than 120 dancers from around Montana, Washington, Colorado and California attended this four day event. <p>Caitlin Hills of Kalispell dances with Ben White, the owner/instructor at Eastside Stomp in Seattle. In the early years White and Peter Flahiff were the primary instructors who made the trek out to Montana. The list of instructors has grown considerably and this year included: Peter Flahiff, Ben White, Irina Amzashvili, Cat Foley, Michael "Falty" Faltesek, Robin Nunnally and Solomon Douglas.
