Jaywalker causes traffic pileup
A rogue jaywalker in Columbia Falls nearly caused a multi-car pileup by strutting across Ninth Street West. A driver, much more conscientious than the pedestrian, swerved into the inside lane, colliding gently with another vehicle. The second driver said she saw no damage to her car but heard a pop. The Columbia Falls Police Department told the drivers to call in if they found any damage later on.
A woman on Martha Road went to get some belongings from her ex when he spit in her face and kicked her. She then punched him.
A caller on Ninth Avenue reported a break-in the night before and a sketchy man was hanging around the business. The caller requested an extra patrol to cruise the neighborhood.
A homeowner on Columbia Mountain Court said his house had been egged and he believed his neighbors had done it. He wanted an officer to come see the mess.
The Whitefish Police Department responded to reports of animal abuse on Hospital Way. A dog had been left in a blue vehicle with the windows rolled up and was “panting really badly.” Officers found the dog, determined not only was the dog not panting badly, but it also wasn’t that warm out. The dog was fine.
A citizen on Park Avenue reported her neighbor’s dog running wild. The caller said she talked to the neighbor first but she was rude and told the reporting party to “get used to it.”
A man on U.S. 93, clearly intoxicated, was attempting to get into his car. His wife was called and he was taken home so he could pick up the vehicle in the morning.
The Glacier Park International Airport Fire-Rescue responded to a minor aircraft emergency on the tarmac at 5:01 p.m. Wednesday
The Polson Police Department investigated reports of the sale of dangerous drugs near a cafe in Polson.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a call from a resident on Steel Bridge Road in Kalispell. He found his mailbox had been destroyed by some explosive device, perhaps a sparkler bomb.
A postmaster in Bigfork called in about possible stolen mail by several suspects down near Woods Bay.
A Sage Lane resident in Kalispell reported a trailer on his property. The trailer had been there for 10 years.
A Bigfork resident on Alpine Drive reported two children jumping off the roof of a neighbor’s house. Instead of letting natural selection work itself out, the caller was worried for the children’s safety and the property.
A Somers man was worried his grandchildren were unattended while their father, the caller’s son, was off on meth binges. The man had a history of drug abuse and the very young children would sometimes wander off in the street without supervision.
A Whitefish employer called about a disgruntled ex-employee who came back into the place of business with his wife, claiming “the reason my wife is with me is to protect you.” He also threatened the employer that he would “beat the crap out of him.”
A man was shooting up drugs in the bathroom of a Stoner Creek Road residence in Lakeside. Pills, needles and spoons were all found in the bathroom; the man was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
The Kalispell Police Department was called about a suspicious man wandering around a Kalispell mall asking people for money to get back to Browning.
A man was in the parking lot of a business punching cars and screaming at people. Some construction workers told him to stop and he became aggressive. The workers hit him and he lay down in the parking lot until police arrived.
A man walked into a convenience store looking to buy beer but was refused by employees due to the fact the man could barely stand. He proceeded to drive off in a blue pickup truck.
