More reasons not to 'light up' this Fourth

Fourth of July fireworks: Bah, humbug!

I suppose there is a significance in the fireworks: “Rockets’ red glare” and “bombs bursting in air.”

But I would think the American people today would be better served in helping our homeless veterans, rather than blowing up millions of dollars worth of fireworks for a questionable celebration that seems to last with fireworks for seven to 10 days, that irritates their neighbors and scares our animals, wild and domestic.

Again, I suppose if the American people do not continue to purchase everything from China, including fireworks, they will not lend us any more money (our money).

It is also irritating that the fireworks start seven to 10 days before, and the same after. That scares the animals, wild and domestic.—John Harlow, Kalispell
