In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Charlotte Edkins Animal Adoption Center, the Humane Society of Northwest Montana is hosting an open house beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday at its Adoption Center.

The open house will be followed at 6 p.m. by a one-hour volunteer orientation session.

Adoption Center pets will be on hand to welcome visitors and refreshments will be served.

The Humane Society is located at 100 Adopt a Pet Way off U.S. 93 north of Kalispell. The center is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Volunteer opportunities are available to anyone age 16 or older. Volunteers are needed to groom cats, walk dogs, play fetch in the pet park, help feed and water the animals, clean kennels, answer phones, greet visitors, assist with community events and help with fundraising.

As a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Humane Society operates the Charlotte Edkins Animal Adoption Center and is funded solely by donations, grants, corporate sponsorships and special events.

For 10 years, the Humane Society’s mission has been to promote compassionate care, perpetuate the bond between animals and end the destruction of healthy adoptable pets so that every animal finds a loving home.
