Fine arts to be showcased Monday
A sampling of Kalispell student talent in art, music, theater and speech will be on display Monday at the annual Evening of Fine Arts.
Eleven acts are scheduled in the Flathead Valley Community College Arts and Technology building.
The night will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with an art show, appetizers, no-host bar and guitar solo by student Hannah Hickethier.
At 6:30 p.m., student performances will begin with Edgerton Elementary students singing “Song of the Dragon” and “Silver Moon Boat.”
Other musical performances include selections from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” by Kalispell Middle School students, “The Music Man” by Flathead High School’s choir and “West Side Story” by the Glacier High School Echoes.
Glacier High School’s percussion ensemble also will perform.
Flathead Experimental Theatre students should get the crowd smiling with an original one-act play called “One Tree OC Beach,” and toes will be tapping when Feat by Feet Youth Tap Ensemble makes a return appearance at the Evening of Fine Arts.
Top speech students from both Flathead and Glacier high schools also are scheduled to take to the stage.
Ethan Hall, Flathead’s state champion in Humorous Oral Interpretation, should have people laughing with “Charlie and the Caterpillar” by Dom Deluise and Jessica Mount, Glacier state champion in Serious Interpretation, will bring “Bums” by Robert Shaffron to life.
Flathead’s third-place state finishers in Humorous Interpretation, Parker Kouns and Wyatt Dykhuizen, will perform “008” by Herb Duncan.
A recent Kalispell Education Foundation grant recipient will share highlights from a funded project and its impact in the classroom.
Proceeds from this event to benefit the Flathead Valley Community College art department, student scholarships, and grants that promote student success and innovative classroom projects in Kalispell Public Schools.
Tickets are available for $40 at the Glacier and Flathead high school main offices, Bonelli’s Bistro and the Hockaday Museum of Art or online at www.kalispelleducationfoundation.org.
