Big boulder crashes near traffic lane

A large boulder “the size of a small vehicle” fell and came to rest straddling the fog line in the northbound lane of U.S. 93 South. A passing volunteer firefighter stopped to direct traffic around the hazard. Fallen rocks also were also reported in the middle of the road 10 miles north of the Lake County line.

A mortified motorist called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after going through a Whitefish Stage Road intersection and having another driver come running up to her vehicle and pound on her window, yelling at her to open her door. She said she may have turned out in front of the vehicle but that there was plenty of room, and that she was now in a parking lot getting her composure back.

A First Avenue West bartender was hit in the face during a scuffle that began after a pair of men got upset following an argument about drinks being brought to their table.

A Whitefish Police Department officer responded to East Ninth Street after a resident complained that a pair of vehicles were consistently parked across the street from one another blocking traffic, and that she had to fold in her mirrors to get through. The officer reported both vehicles were legally parked and that it was “unfortunate that the width of the road is not conducive to traffic.”
