Sheriff inundated with flooding reports

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received several calls from women reporting neighbor-caused flooding on Monday.

A Foys Canyon Road resident reported her neighbor built a “land dam” that resulted in two feet of water gathering in her garage.

An East Bowman Drive woman reported the owners of an empty neighboring lot trespassed onto her property, moving her hoses and causing water to drain back onto her property, also burning up one of her water pumps as it was left out of water. She added that her neighbors were now threatening to sue because she was draining the water off her property into a ditch not owned by anyone.

A Dolphin Drive woman reported her neighbors were pumping water away from their residence and into a field that drains onto her residence, causing it to flood. She said they refused to stop pumping when she asked them.

Flooding was reported on Coram Stage Road by someone who said it was “due to the county road not getting graded properly.”

A woman who “doesn’t deal with confrontation” asked an officer to speak with her about a man whom she couldn’t convince to leave her home.

A discerning Dodd Avenue woman who found a dead cat in her back yard reported her belief that it was the work of a local dog allowed by its owner to run loose.

A mad man reported a judge had issued an order giving his vehicle to someone else and that it shouldn’t have been done as he is the owner of the vehicle.

A pair of perturbed people reported receiving frightening phone calls from a threatening man telling them to look out their windows.

An ongoing problem was reported at a Montclair Drive motel, where a man keeps staying under different names, having his card declined at the end, and leaving without paying for the rooms.

Several 12-gauge shotgun shell casings were found in a treeline on a River Road property after the resident heard shots fired, then saw a pickup truck leaving with its headlights off.

An errant bathtub was reported in the northbound lanes of U.S. 93 South after possibly having fallen off a truck.

A rock two feet across was reported in the middle of the southbound lane of U.S. 93 near Somers.

A Parliament Drive woman was taken to the hospital after reporting someone had burglarized her home.

A red-haired woman in a gold Jaguar nearly ran over a pedestrian on First Avenue East.

A purse and a Game Boy portable video game system were stolen from a car on Conrad Drive.

Someone broke into a U.S. 2 East office and stole a computer, a printer and a phone system.

A backpack containing several items was stolen from a Redwing Court garage.

An East Evergreen Drive church was vandalized with graffiti.


A wounded woman in her mid-40s was transported to the hospital after falling on her face at an East Idaho Street casino, leaving her bleeding from her nose uncontrollably. The woman had been reported to the Kalispell Police Department after acting strange despite only having drank one glass of wine over two hours.

A mother was reported to child and parent services after her barefooted 2-year-old daughter was found walking down Sunny View Lane into oncoming traffic.

An officer responded to a Lupine Drive home after loud music was reported.

An ongoing problem was reported on the northwest corner of a U.S. 93 North parking lot, where high school students show up during their lunch hour every day to smoke pot.

A passing motorist reported a person, possibly extremely drunk and passed out, had been sitting in their vehicle in the middle of 11th Street west for half an hour.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested and transported to juvenile detention after slapping her mother at their Empire Loop home.

A miffed motorist reported another driver peeled out in front of him, peppering his vehicle with rocks and damaging his paint job.

A motorist was cited for drug possession during a traffic stop on U.S. 93 South.

Lighters and sunglasses were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on East Oregon Street.


A partial avalanche blocked U.S. 2 East at mile marker 156 for about two and a half hours Monday evening, while a two-car accident blocked U.S. 2 West at mile marker 129.5 for a little more than two hours the following morning.
