Bill Plummer, 82

Bill Plummer, 82, had a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. He passed away March 9, 2014, in the skilled nursing Cottages at the Grandview in Great Falls.

Bill was born in Kalispell on May 25, 1931, to William and Laura Plummer. Bill's early schooling was at St. Matthew's in Kalispell with graduation from Kalispell High.

After graduation from high school, he attended college at Gonzaga University and later moved to Montana State University where he attained a degree in civil engineering.  

On Sept. 6, 1958, Bill married Sandra M. Blair. Son Steve was born in Bozeman the next year. Upon graduation with his engineering degree, Bill went to work as a practicing civil engineer, ultimately partnering with a fellow engineer to form a thriving consulting firm. As the firm grew, Bill and his partner branched out into the insurance industry where they were extremely active inspecting ski areas.

Bill and Sandra retired in Great Falls and wintered in Nevada. In his retirement years, Bill was extremely active with hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding. He especially enjoyed fishing for salmon in Alaska with friends and relatives and motorcycle riding in Montana and Nevada.

Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra; son, Steve, and his wife, Lori; grandchildren, Brian and Michelle; and brother, Ted and his wife, Stella.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty and Kathleen; and brothers, Ellison, Lawrence, Edward and Frederick.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March, 15, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 201 44th St. South, Great Falls. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Meadow Lark Country Club beginning at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to a charity of your choice. You may also choose to donate to your local hospice.
