Byrl Berkimer, 73

Byrl Berkimer, 73, yeoman chief petty officer U.S. Navy retired, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014, with family and his dog Julie by his side. 

He was the former owner of Byrl’s Place barber shops in Spokane and Kalispell. 

Byrl was born on March 28, 1940, and lived in Jonesville, Mich., until joining the Navy. 

He and his wife Sandra lived their “bucket list” of traveling the United States with their RV for eight years, eventually retiring in Starke, Fla.

Besides his wife, Byrl is survived by sons, Richard and Lani Berkimer, and Steven and Elizabeth Berkimer; his grandchildren, Timothy and wife Michael, Samantha and Louis; great-grandchildren, Shaughnessy and Jackson; sister, Marge; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, Kidney Foundation, or your favorite charity, in Byrl’s name.
