Car catches fire without explanation

Kalispell Police Department officers were initially dispatched to Crestview Road when a man reported his brother’s car caught fire while no one was around it. Something on the car then exploded, fully engulfing the vehicle in flames and threatening a nearby building. The vehicle was subsequently extinguished within about 30 minutes.

A man had to go to the emergency room for stitches after a pickup truck pulled into a parking lot as he was walking up to his own vehicle and one of the occupants opened a door, hitting him with it. When the people in the truck realized what had happened, they fled the scene.

A report of a trio trying to break into a Honeysuckle Lane home were found to be trying to set up something special for one of their girlfriends for prom. They were counseled on their actions and the girl’s mother agreed to handle things from there.

A mistake in entering a debit card number by a person trying to pay their electric bill led to a report of fraud. The mistake was later corrected and the victim’s money refunded.

A report of a fight at a U.S. 93 South bar turned out to be nothing but a pair of drunk men who fell on top of one another and were now back in the bar, on their feet.

An officer was unable to locate a woman reportedly driving under the influence of methamphetamine after having driven away from an Airport Road bar.

She said the man, in his 60s with a beard and shaggy hair, was very drunk and thought he lived there. Another person later reported the man walking and looking like he might pass out in a ditch. A deputy located the man and dropped him off at his actual home.

A person in a truck was arrested after being reported chasing deer in a field off Elk Park Road and spinning brodies before shooting up onto the road, then into a ditch, getting stuck.

A local garbage collection business was told to clean up its act after one of their trucks was reported leaving a trail of trash in its wake all the way down Hodgson Road.
