Glacier trio named to all-state basketball team
Glacier’s Evan Epperly, Cassi Hashley and Hailee Bennett were each named to the Class AA all-state basketball teams on Tuesday.
Each was also named to the first team all-Western conference. The poll was conducted by coaches this weekend. Coaches nominated players from their teams, then voted for their top 10 players from other conference teams.
Epperly, a 5-foot-9 senior point guard for the Wolfpack, was a four-year varsity player averaging 17.6 points and 4.6 assists in his final season. This is the second time he’s earned all-state honors, named second team all-conference as a sophomore. Epperly will be attending the University of Montana on a football scholarship.
It also the second year Hashley earned all-state honors for the Wolfpack girls. She was one of two girls in the state to average a double-double her senior season, scoring 15.4 points and 10.5 rebounds a game. She was top four in the state in each category after leading both a year ago. A 6-foot senior committed to play basketball at Carroll College next season, Hashley also was named second team all-conference her first two seasons at Glacier.
Bennett came on strong this season as one of the state’s top point guards. Her second year as a starter, she earned all-state honors by averaging 12.5 points and 3.7 assists in 21 games as a sophomore. Bennett was also among the best in the state from the free-throw line and behind the arc this season. She shot 78.5 percent on free throws and 38 percent from deep to climb in the top 10 in Class AA in each category. She is the youngest player to earn all-state basketball honors in school history.
Glacier’s Bryan Michaels was named second team all-West while Flathead’s Matt Quist was honorable mention for the boys.
The Bravette’s Emma Andrews was named second team all-West for the girls while teammate Jenessa Heine earned honorable mention along with Glacier’s Katie Wiley.
