Glad the crime did not result in death

I just read the letters to the editor in the March 16 paper, and felt I must add my voice.

What a deplorable act against the health-care facility. I can’t imagine how the owner must feel violated and personally destroyed along with the loss of her property. I myself don’t for the most part agree that abortions should be performed except in incidents of rape or incest or to save the mother’s life, but in no way do I believe  this crime was committed out of moral outrage against abortion.

If the person accused of this crime was carrying a fully loaded semi automatic pistol with one in the chamber and a spare loaded magazine plus other weapons, surely he would have been prepared to do a lot more than wreck a building. Thank God there was not a cleaning person there or the owner going over records. In my opinion, it would could very likely have ended with injury or a loss of life. In the end, only things were destroyed and things can be replaced, whereas a life cannot. We should all be grateful for that.

One other thing: This crime (and I lay no fault on law enforcement) was committed perhaps a block and a half or two from the police station, so don’t ever be lulled into thinking they can protect you; all they can do is investigate, write up a report and hope to catch the criminal.
