Kalispell council tackles long-range planning
The Kalispell City Council will discuss long-range planning direction for the city airport along with a possible update for the city’s Urban Renewal Plan at a work session tonight.
Last November, the council determined that long-range planning direction was need for the airport so decisions could be made related to operations, maintenance and land use, among other management priorities.
“In addition to providing direction for the airport, reviewing the Urban Renewal Plan could lead to project development in the southern end of Kalispell as additional property could be included in the plan and projects defined to initiate redevelopment opportunities,” Kalispell City Manager Doug Russell wrote in a memo to the council.
An Urban Renewal Plan update would involve going to the city’s Urban Renewal Agency for oversight and acquiring the services of a consultant to engage public participation in developing a new plan, Russell wrote.
No action can be taken during the work session, and there will be an opportunity for public comments. The session starts at 7 p.m. in City Hall on First Avenue East.
